Extra: Why Don't We Do Our H/W?

The following are 13 reasons as to why students don't do their homework. Your job is to choose 10 of these reasons and explain; in one-two sentences each, what you can do to overcome these issues.

For example, the first reason given is that H/W is boring. To overcome this, you may complete the H/W in ten minute blocks, with a five minute break in between to do something that you enjoy doing.

You need to complete this work as a WORD document on your laptops. You can then cut and paste your completed work as a comment below. You will need to have this completed by the end of the week.

IF YOU DO NOT COMPLETE THIS WORK, AND IT IS DEEMED THAT YOUR REASONS AS TO WHY YOU HAVEN'T COMPLETED THIS WORK ARE UNSATISFACTORY, YOU WILL NOT ATTEND LUNA PARK ON PICNIC DAY.

REASONS

It's boring: if it’s boring then play 30 mins on the Xbox then do your homework for 4 the other 30 mins.

They don't understand the instructions OR what to do: then you should listen.

It's too difficult: wait till you get in to year 12 that will be difficult.

It's too easy: who cares finish it quicker then.
It's not their priority: well make it your priority then or else how are you going to get a job.

They just forgot OR forgot exactly what they had to do: no one accomplishes anything when you don’t do your homework because after all how else are you going to get a job when you can’t even work out 7x6 which actually = to 42.

They don't find time OR have bad time management: well ask your parents for help with times.
They don't see the point: then talk to your parents to explain the point to you.

Doing homework seems childish: people older than us do homework.

  17. It's boring:
A way to overcome this situation is to break it in smaller parts and reward yourself after you do it like have a snake or play a bit of games in-between each break session.
They don't understand the instructions OR what to do:
They can go and ask family members or go on the net to find out or try to understand on the internet or they can ask their friends for help.
    It's too difficult:
You can plan it out and work it with friends or get help from older siblings or other more intellect family members to help out.
    It's too easy:
To make it harder for you try to advance it to make your answers longer to get more research on the questions.
They could understand the language but couldn't think of any ideas:
To put it out more easily for you a mind map and get all the ideas into 1 and then you can find a end result.
They just forgot OR forgot exactly what they had to do.
Ask a friend about the problem or talk to their parents or other family members that could help you out if you don’t know what to do or ask a friend for info about the subject.
They don't find time OR have bad time management:
Go get time on your hands and do it just don’t think it do it for the sake of finishing it and then you can do whatever you want to do roam around.
    It's a minor rebellion:
Don’t rebel evil never prevails because at the end you’re going to get into trouble just strive a bit and you can do it just believe.
    Doing homework seems childish:
Then think of it this way I'm in high school I have responsibilities I have to do it if that seems childish then I'm still a child and no one can change that.
They lack a place where they can do it in peace and quiet:
Then go find one were ever you can go find one and do it because its not that stupid just go do it because its vital for school and for one self.

  34. They could understand the language but couldn't think of any ideas:
Go and ask a parent or read through what you have done during that class and brainstorm a list of ideas for the h/w.
They don't find time OR have bad time management:
Find time, that’s all, make a timetable and write down the usual things you do and then put them in an order that suits to your likings.
They just forgot OR forgot exactly what they had to do:
Record your h/w in your diary or if you have enough time in class try to complete it beforehand.

They lack a place where they can do it in peace and quiet:
Ask a parent to assist you in telling family members that you need to complete your h/w in peace and quiet therefore, it would allow you to concentrate.

    They lack equipment:
Ask a parent or adult supervisor to take you out to buy the equipment necessary for your school.
    Doing homework seems childish:
Why would it be? Schools have h/w set out for you for your own benefit and it allows you to re-learn what you have done today and stores it all in your mind. Read through all the work and do it
    They don't see the point:
Again, it is the same reason as thinking that h/w is childish. It is for YOUR benefit not anyone else’s. Go and exercise for 10 mins then return back to h/w
    It's not their priority:
School h/w is always your priority, find something to while doing h/w, go watch TV for 30 mins then go do h/w for 30 mins if it is able to spice up your boredom.
    It's too difficult:
If it is too difficult, ask the teacher for help if you have enough time, if not, ask a parent at home to assist you in finishing your h/w.
    It's too easy:
Then do it, there is no reason as to why you shouldn’t do it when it is too easy.

  60. H/W is boring. To overcome this, you may complete the H/W in ten minute blocks, with a five minute break in between to do something that you enjoy doing.

H/W is too difficult. To overcome this you might want to ask your teachers for advice on a good completion method or if it is due soon try to ask around the family and see what your siblings or parent know.

H/W is too easy. If homework is too easy there should be no excuse for this. Instead of putting it off get it done in class if it’s so easy.

H/W is not the priority. If homework and school isn’t your priority then you should drop out. If you’re not dropping out then you should get the homework out of the way and leave more time for other priorities.

Lack equipment to do H/W. Buy some! Pens aren’t expensive and even if you’re that tight for money I’m sure there are some generous people in the family willing to lend you a pen.

It’s a minor rebellion. Incompletion of H/W is not cool. If your seeking a good job for the future don’t try to be cool by rebelling because in the long run your hurting yourself.

No peace and quiet. If your lacking peace and quiet try and go to a friends house and if that’s too drastic then go outside for a walk, clear your head and try to come back and you should be able to put up with the noise.

Don’t see the point. If you don’t see the point in homework ill tell you the point. Teachers don’t set homework to piss you off. They sit it for your own knowledge and well being. The point is it benefits you and if you don’t do it, it hurts you later in life.

Don’t understand. If you do not understand then I’m sure there are people around the house who would be happy to help and also as mentioned in too difficult try asking the teacher if unsure.

Couldn’t think of any ideas. If you cant think of any ideas then go for a walk and clear your head space. After that if something doesn’t come to you then seek advice from others around the house.

Read it over and over again until you understand what to do if not ask the teachers or family.
It’s too difficult - Ask the teachers or tutor and family to help you.
They could understand the language but couldn’t think of any ideas
Ask friends or teachers to help you if not; think more until you get something.
They just forgot or forgot exactly what they had to do
    Go through Diary entry
    Doing homework seems childish
Make it challenging for you instead of leaving it and get in to trouble
They don’t find time or have time management
Create a schedule to maintain time.

  81. It’s boring- Have breaks in between your homework hours (1hour of homework and 15mins of playing)

They don't understand the instructions OR what to do- Ask a teacher to explain the work or ask a mate.

It's too difficult- Read through the work to the best of your ability and try your best.

It’s too easy- complete all the work and ask for more or use the time to do some revision.

They just forgot OR forgot exactly what they had to do- Ring a mate and ask him or keep it in your diary.

They don't find time OR have bad time management- Be more organised and have a time schedule .

It's not their priority- It should be your first priority because it’s for your education

They don’t see the point- Because its homework and its something for you to be completing to keep your knowledge refreshed.

Doing homework seems childish- It won’t seem childish when you are failing all your work.

They lack a place where they can do it in peace and quiet- Ask mum or dad to take you to the library or close you bedroom door.

  82. It's boring – Have a break every 20 minutes and do something you enjoy.

They don't understand the instructions OR what to do – Ask the teaching during/after class for what you don’t understand.

It's too difficult – The teacher will be able to help you 100% but you have to ask.

It's too easy –Do it and get a merit.

They could understand the language but couldn't think of any ideas – Search the internet for any help you may need.

It's not their priority – Find a way to make it your priority, because its YOUR education.

They just forgot OR forgot exactly what they had to do – Ring up a friend and ask them.

They don't find time OR have bad time management – When your parents go somewhere stay home and do your work. Even if it means risking a night out. Education comes first.

They don't see the point – Think about what you want to do in the future and see the relation it has with school.

They lack a place where they can do it in peace and quiet – Go to a local library or a relative’s house who has some quietness.

They lack equipment – Write down a list of what you need, and go to the shops with your parents and buy them.
